First impressions. I love this camera

I just bought a C6 and went to Disneyland to shoot videos with the kids . Bottom line, I love this camera. Here are my thoughts after using it for a week: Without a doubt, the size makes this camera much more comfortable to use than the larger on-the-go models. I have a mini DVD camera that fits in the palm of your hand but cannot be put in your pocket. It's a pain for me to get it out of my fanny pack or whatever and I'm missing shots. For a trip like Disneyland it was so nice to have this thing in my pocket, pull it out quickly and discreetly snap all sorts of great shots on the rides etc. After a few hours I could literally take it out of my pocket, lift the screen with my thumb, and be shooting around in 3 seconds! And the ability to switch between photos and videos gave me a lot more shots that I wouldn't be able to get if I had to dig out the camera. I just hate lugging all that gear around. The quality of the photos is pretty good. I was expecting less based on other reviews. I haven't increased anything yet. My only complaint would be the slightly oversaturated colors. Maybe I can fix this setting in the camera. The best shots were taken in bright sunlight by the pool. Video quality is decent, better than I expected in low light. It focused well in low light. I've had good results with indoor trips. My favorite thing to do is hold a camera and film me and my son on a trip. The size makes this easy to do, and of course you can flip the screen to see yourself. I can do this with my DVD camera but it becomes heavy and bulky. Shock protection is not that good. You really have to be careful how much you move. It works, it could only be better. Even when zooming, I had no problems with photos. Like others, I've found that when capturing video, there's a lot of camera noise during the video. The wind reduction works much better than my other camera (Panasonic DVD model). The sound is decent overall. The flash is very weak. I would estimate a maximum of 6 feet. Weaker than my Pentax Optio digital camera. Although I didn't take many shots indoors/at night. I really like how quickly it heats up. When you turn it on or lift the screen, it's ready to use in just a few seconds. That's why I don't like DVD cameras, the warm-up is very slow. For example 30 seconds on my Panasonic DVR. Because of this I lose a lot of frames. I like that all the buttons are on the front and can be reached with the thumb. It took some time to get used to its small size. There's a slide switch to toggle between viewing and recording, so you can do this quickly without a menu. I forgot to buy an extra battery which was a mistake. I don't know how much life I had but every day I started at 8:30 am and by noon she was dead. But I took a lot of videos and flash photos. I really like the docking station because you don't have to take out the battery to charge it and you can connect to your TV and watch videos. Another interesting use of the docking station is that it doubles as a tabletop tripod. I've used it for video fireworks shows with pretty good results. The remote worked fine but one bad thing is that if you scroll through a series of clips on the tv and pause for about 10 seconds it goes back to another screen and you have to scroll back through all the clips to get there, where you are was. Maybe that can be changed in the settings, but I don't know. The battery level indicator also appeared on the screen. The battery is just dead. I think you can check it from the menu, but it's a pain. I have two 2GB SD cards. SanDisk Extremes (or Ultras I think). He texts them very quickly. So far there are no problems. Each card gave me about 80 or 90 minutes at maximum quality. I didn't fill them all out in 5 days at Disneyland. The lens cap is cheap plastic and quite difficult to put on and take off, but I'm used to it. Works fine but I think it will break soon. You have to figure out how to integrate the one that slides in and out. Bottom line: if like me you don't like having tons of gear hanging around your neck, in your fanny pack or whatever, then this camcorder is for you. Thanks to its speed and size, I've been able to get more cool shots than my DVD model. I don't pay much attention to quality because on a family vacation, getting the only shot of my kids doing something cute is more important than perfect image quality. Now all I have to do is learn how to use iMovie to stitch all those clips together!
