The color is deep dark green and the buckle strap contrasts nicely with the tan. Yes, it opens on the short side rather than the long side, which I think adds to its unique utility. It contains 17 cards plus an ID card. I put my passport card in this slot because, while I carry it with me every day, I don't use it as my main wallet. It is very thin and has 2 zippered compartments. They are not on opposite sides like in the picture but on the same side of the two long pieces. i think it looks really better. I use these slots for r cripta not cash. Again, I don't use this for my main wallet, but you could. I really like this piece and recommend it to anyone who has a lot of valuable cards for different establishments. So you never lose your cards and always find them again. It's so wonderful to get exactly what you paid for!
