These socks kept us warm which serves the main purpose. After a day of wearing, however, they looked old and worn - like a sweater that never needed washing. I have never put them in the washing machine and recommend hand washing. I think they will fall apart when they hit the car. My son has worn them several times and despite their appearance, his feet are very warm.
