Have worn traditional leather buckles my whole life. There were quality belts that lasted for years. I also had a couple of "Walmart" belts that lasted several months. I wanted to update my golf wardrobe and decided to try two different types of nylon straps. Of the two belts I tested (the other being the Under Armor model), this belt was by far the best. Unlike most of these belts, this belt does NOT use metal "prongs" to attach the belt. Instead, the belt contains "ribs" in the material for the buckle to snap onto - similar to a zipper, but removable. As for unpacking. I've had no issues with the strap loosening when it shouldn't OR not loosening when it should. Worn with golf shorts, jeans and even casual work wear. Very comfortable and holds my pants perfectly!
