I've been buying Timex watches for literally decades. This watch is simple and clear, with a traditional (not digital) dial, everything I was looking for. The date function stopped working for the first few weeks but is too small to read so it wasn't a problem for me. The problem appeared 8 months after purchase when the battery died. After replacing it with a new battery, I could not close the case. I called Timex support; I was told I need a "special tool" that only Timex has. During the 1-year warranty period, they replace the battery for a fee of $8, a process that takes up to 4 weeks. The problem of sending a watch in the mail and not using it for a month - paying 30% of the original cost just to replace the battery - is simply unacceptable.
