It ain't like the old flashlights that were made out of aluminum tubing with 6 D cell batteries to give it heft. This thing doesn't weigh half a pound, quality is about what you'd expect for today's throw away world. The light output is pretty amazing and much improved over the aforementioned 6 D cell. However, this one cannot be used for a club for self-defense, say for against a hungry bear, (fear not, Yogi) unlike that old 6 cell, that is unless you are lighting your way to the "self defense club". I like that it's rechargeable and the battery life seems good. Haven't run out of lumens yet after several hours of use and one charge. The only annoying thing is that you have to cycle through all of the modes to turn the thing off. 6 clicks on a switch that's probably going to be the first and perhaps most important component to fail. Do that several times a day on a camping trip and guaranteed that the switch will go before the charge does. Minus one star for poor engineering and for annoying me.
