At first I was happy to buy this. It looked good and held its shape surprisingly well for a wool shirt, until I realized I'd paid $120 for a fake ad. It's not 100% wool, not even close. To Smartwool's marketing department, the reason you can charge such high prices for your products is because they have to be made out of wool, not because they're a nice color or anything. Wool is: - breathable - light - does not smell But: - not durable. Plastic has: - less breathability - heavier - durable - smells bad after a day of wear. By combining the two materials, you may have solved the durability problem, but you've described the very problem most people buy to avoid wool: the plastic smells, just like this shirt.
