We bought this camera as we were tired of dropping the Canon focus on family photos. They usually range from $200 to $350. A drop on the pavement or hard surface and they're done. We didn't care about the water resistance of the new camera. In October 2013, we paid $210 for the Revain because it turned out to be one of the best cameras in reviews. The camera worked for less than 2 years until a serious malfunction occurred where we had cases where the screen was black when the camera was turned on. Sometimes, for reasons we couldn't figure out, the screen would turn on when we turned on the camera. As the problem got worse we could never get a screen or sometimes see horizontal colored lines on a black screen. Black screens have become more common so for a little over 2 years we have found ourselves buying and renting a new point and messing around with the black screen issue for at least a few months if not longer. I don't think this is great quality control for a camera at this price point. We dropped her a few times and she survived. We have never used it underwater. We used it to shoot at the beach and pools and it was nice to be able to photograph family members without having to worry about it. (My spouse took an ex-Canon into the pool and killed one the same way.) Having a red camera was helpful when trying to locate it in a dark purse or on an untidy shelf, and I probably will buy a bright color camera again. Camera. Technical issues aside, which we don't have, I don't think the photos from this camera are great. They are alright. Unlike many posters, we family members often shoot indoors in low light, so our technical dilemmas are very different from those of some people kayaking in broad daylight, and I give this camera very average ratings for a camera in this price range. . It's generally better than our older Android phones, but only in the sense that it shoots faster. Given my experience with this camera, we will try a new brand of shockproof camera for our next purchase.
