The photo was taken about 10 minutes after I filled it with this water. Another 5 minutes later, and water came out from below. These coasters were very inefficient at holding small amounts of water, let alone spilling them. This particular coaster has been used with a glass of water for several minutes. It deformed and a ring of water formed on its surface. When I lifted it to replace it, the water ran off the surface onto the wooden table. At this point it served as a warning to people not to put their drinks on that particular surface, but I ended up replacing them with a couple of the sturdier coasters I had and stopped using them. They're about the same weight as the cardboard I use in my home printer, just less absorbent. Disappointing purchase.
