Paw shoes sold at local pet stores do not have thick yarn at the bottom for better grip. Our pup has deep paw pads so snow, salt and ice accumulated and caused discomfort. To protect his paw pads from weather and cold, we decided on a pair of them. We run every night and we get about two winters out of a pair. Velcro deteriorates earlier than booties so they last about 2 seasons. I assumed you could get new velcro straps but they are inexpensive! The included measuring guide is pretty accurate. We could have gone for a size 2 or 3 but went for a size 3 to make sure they weren't too tight.
