I've been using this duvet for about a week. Yes, this duvet stays warm on relatively low settings (2-3 for me) and heats up well, but heats up VERY quickly when preheated. There doesn't seem to be any hotspots and a warm welcome as it's snowing here right now. It should be noted that the controls are NOT the same as in the photo and are difficult to see at night as it is on the bedside table and the buttons are not backlit. There are 20 heat settings, although I can't imagine using the top heat settings, which should be called baking and roasting. The blanket is soft and light and you can easily feel the wires inside. Note that this and every other electric blanket I've had has one downside. Assuming you order your mattress size, the heating wires only go to the edge of your mattress. When you sit down and the quilt rises to cover you, the edges and a few inches more near the edge don't get hot. As I have a queen size bed I am ordering a king size bed. I do NOT plug any places with cords and they don't reach to the floor but now in the bed I share with my husband it is warm to the brim and beyond. Also, for some reason, the electric blanket industry is all for cold receptions. Again, like other brands I've owned, the heating wires run just a foot from the top of the blanket. Since I'm small, I can just keep snuggling in. For my taller husband, I put a fleece blanket over his shoulders to keep him warm. This special electric blanket has another property that prevents intimate marital relationships in the middle of winter. You can see each side is connected separately and the wires for each side are not connected, which is good. BUT. . There is a 6-8 inch gap in the heated area that runs along the centerline of the bed. It's large enough to let you know for sure when you're crossing the center line of your bed to snuggle up to your significant other. The only good thing about it is that the cat is also aware of that cold stripe down the middle of the bed, so at least the cat isn't in the way.
