Terrible "upgrade " with Mi Band 5!

Mi Band 6 sucks! I really liked my Mi Band 5 and it impressed me a lot. I decided to gift it to my six year old daughter so she could see her steps and sleep and I ordered a Mi Band 6 as it was available in the US right now. The screen and resolution looks better compared to the 5th. But that's the only real improvement I see.1. Notifications don't work either, and I don't see all of my SMS and other messages in full text. Only the top line with the received time on the second line, the rest of the screen is blank. Big waste of screen space. For emails, it shows enough text of the email to fill the screen but doesn't let me scroll down like 5. I've tried messing around with the settings in the Notifications for Mi Band app as they has a lot more settings, but I haven't been able to improve the notifications in any way. 2. Sleep data is terrible. From 5 I realized it wasn't 100% accurate, but the sleep and wake times were at least accurate and the mix of sleep types was interesting. Sleep types were usually compared to what I got every day on the Sleep Like Android app, but they were close! The difference was small, so I was very happy with the Mi Band 5, especially at such a low price. 5 was about $35 and I paid $60 for 6 so I feel very cheated. I woke up this morning and there is no sleep data for the last night in the Mi Fit app. I played around with it for 20 minutes, re-synced and tried other things to get my sleep data out and no. It's like I've been sitting all night πŸ˜’πŸ™„. My steps seem to be in sync. I don't know if the steps are correct. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't, but I bought it primarily for sleep tracking and notifications. Steps are just a little bonus to show me what a sedentary lifestyle I am πŸ˜‚. I would love it if the bracelet had more functionality to respond to certain notifications or perform other actions, but for the price, I wouldn't deduct a 🌟 star for a lack in that area. I'm deducting 1 star for notifications on the 6th, which is a downgrade from the 5th, and deducting 3 stars for the extremely crappy sleep tracking on the 6th. 6 works just as well as my 5, but I think I'm too disappointed with it to bother getting another one. I'll just buy another Mi Band 5 or maybe even get a fancier one that has more features with SMS/calls/notifications. and the bracelet itself appears to be identical to the previous version. I've had issues with both 5 and 6 accidentally detaching and falling off my wrist, sometimes I didn't even feel it fall. I ordered 3rd party replacement straps from Revain, packaging about 16 different colors not expecting much given the cheap price. But these replacement straps have turned out to be even better because the holes in them are much smaller and harder to poke with a needle, so they hold up much better and never come loose or pull off me. The material isn't like that smooth and silky to the touch like the original and they are less flexible so I was worried they wouldn't be as comfortable but they are just as comfortable and I don't feel any difference at all when wearing them. If you want to put one of these straps on a child, the interchangeable straps have more holes and allowed me to put my daughter's strap on tight enough to fit her tiny wrist perfectly. With the OEM strap, the smallest hole fit her loosely, and she had to wear it higher on the forearm than it should. The interchangeable straps fit both 5 and 6 so we can share a great set. In the photo I shared, my daughter and I are using third-party interchangeable straps. I'm wearing real, she's wearing pink. )

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Not everything fits
