Review on Neschen Filmoplast Archival Mending Tape by Morgan Gilmore

Not the best

I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed with this material. In fact, it's only slightly thinner than 3M's regular matte finish Scotch Magic Tape. Of course, the side I was restoring was made up of so many pieces that it would have been almost impossible to avoid overlapping bands in some places, contributing to a very noticeable repair. I used a bone binder to get the tape on the paper properly and it definitely doesn't disappear on the page. It has a wax paper or milky finish. I put a piece of tape over a small tear on the edge of the page (marked with a red arrow in the photo), to show the comparison with the Filmosplast P-piece above. They look about the same, the band is a little less noticeable. For around $25, I expect Filmoplast P to work better than cheap duct tape. I hope it holds up better than duct tape over time. It all does its job, as they say, and I only need a copy of the sewing machine manual so I can make a usable copy and keep the original safe. Just wondering if I could save some money and buy book repair tape instead. and I just need a copy of the sewing machine manual so I can make a usable copy and keep the original safe.
