Sewn instead of ironed

I ended up sewing a patch onto the jacket but that could be due to the fabric of the jacket. I'm not sure. The iron began peeling off the corners almost immediately. Now it's sewn on and looks great. I haven't washed the jacket yet, so I don't know if this will affect the patch.
