I've been using this for about 18 months now and it's held up great. I wanted to be a minimalist because I'm tired of lugging everything around and rarely use cash. But I also didn't want to spend a lot of money to see if I liked the concept. I usually carry my driver's license, an insurance card, 2 personal and 1 business credit cards, a debit card and possibly a few cash accounts. It's great for that without being too bulky. In the picture, it's just under 1/2 inch thick with this load of cards (15 inch laptop for comparison). The only thing that bothered me was filling it up with enough cards so nothing slips out. That happens with age. Relax. My Amex, which is metal, helped stretch this bag a little more than a plastic card, so I made the padding a business card for this bag. I also like that this wallet has a cash compartment instead of a money clip. - so no sharp edges in your pocket. As for a gift, I think it's the smallest gift you can safely give someone and it remains useful. There may be thinner or smaller options, although you'll have to make a much more difficult choice of what to wear.
