Much better than expected!

I grew up on homemade quilts that my grandmother and aunts made in the Appalachia. It was great, and now that I'm 60 and those great pieces of art are long gone, I thought I'd never see anything like it again. And I was (so far) right. The quilts I've been buying for more than 20 years just didn't hold up or had any imperfections due to mass production limitations; there was nothing personal about them. But I just took a chance because I liked the look and while it's hardly a homemade gem, it serves the purpose and looks beautiful. Patchwork is just the look. This is not a true patchwork quilt where individual pieces are sewn together. But it's a durable blanket and even a bit thicker than I expected. I've lived in Michigan most of my life and it handles our winters well. It's also slightly more than I expected. (I bought a queen/full size.) A nice surprise is that the back isn't a matte white or pea green "color". It's actually a lovely navy blue with a burgundy and white pinstriped cross pattern. It is 100% cotton and feels like it. Washed a few times, holds up well. Blankets should not be washed very often, maybe once a month or every two months. Some only wash them once or three times per pear. It seems like this blanket can handle your routine as long as you don't push the boundaries too much. I didn't expect that from Eddie Bauer. I really thought I would look for a different comforter after getting over the winter. But I think this one will be here for a while.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • A little maintainability
