I used Dawn Ultra in my black tank to reduce odor and improve drainage. It worked well. When I got my batch of the regular 4 gallon Dawn in the box I thought I was screwed but it works just as well as the Ultra. We are in the same location for many months and do not use tank fittings such as water powered macerated scrubbing pipes. , or something like that… Driving with a little water in the tanks is great for getting rid of deposits but parking for a couple of months doesn't give us that option, I've tried tank sprayers and macerated but the truth is that it is , It's too much fuss and if I don't wipe my ass it's too, too close! So far, this regular Dawn has done the cleaning and deodorization at a better price than other dedicated RV black tank treatments. My routine consists of filling the tank with several gallons of water. (Our 44 gallon tank) I pour about 1/2 cup of this original dawn. That's all I do until it's full or we get a bad odor during a regular flush. At this point I add as much water as possible and then drain the tank. Then I cook it like before. No clogs, no extra gear, just water and dawn. Switching to 100% gray water using only dry bucket composting as I have done in the past. Much less water wastage and also plants. If you have mosquitoes, chances are it's hot and your U-bend sewage sump is drying up quickly. Try to keep less-used drains closed, or remember to keep U-bends full. U-bends are designed to capture sewage gases and some critters. RV systems don't always have U-traps, so we get sewage gas or bugs from the park's drainage system. A friend who swims daily uses free showers at her park and rarely uses her own shower. She was plagued by mosquitoes until she used a shower plug. DAWN is the best match for this RV, it has a safe smell, no formaldehyde and the price is great.
