This is a G1/2 adapter which means the seal is made by a washer and not a threaded tape. This usually improves the seal, but not in this case. Water exits the socket at right angles to the side; not a very good thing. It comes out with high pressure in different directions. Tightening the plug does not help. Pulling doesn't help. Disassembling, turning the washing machine over and assembling it does not help. It just doesn't work.
