I'm taking my first art class, and the professor told us to get a portfolio. I decided I wanted one that would open completely, and have room for a few items inside with the drawings I'm working on. Also, looking at the photos of various portfolios being carried, I realized that I would be overwhelmed by the size of most of them, as well as that I needed one with a shoulder strap. Then there was the price.This portfolio fit the bill nicely. It's smaller than most--but when it arrived and I took it out of the packaging I realized that it's still quite awkwardly large for me to carry about, so I am VERY glad I didn't buy a larger one! At this stage of my studies, I cannot imagine working on anything too large to fit inside it. It's waterproof, suitable for carrying to and from class in rain or snow, and has a shoulder strap. The price is very reasonable.It's not very sturdy, but that means not very heavy--can't imagine attempting to carry something this size in leather! I will have to see how the loops holding the strap and handles hold out, ditto the zipper. But for a beginner who is not an athlete, this appears to be the perfect starter portfolio. Time and use will tell.
