Too bad I didn't return it in the first 30 days; it's just crap.

My first Asus Chromebook was a dream for the first year before it started to fail. After another year of unreliable performance I bought an Asus c434 Flip but returned it shortly thereafter as it was obviously faulty with flashing screens etc. Then I bought this Acer based on the reviews. I quickly found this problematic, but stupidly didn't return it. Now, four months later, the biggest issues are the touchscreen and build quality. About once a day the screen freezes and becomes unresponsive to touch, requiring a hard reboot. Sometimes if I just pick up the device the screen will change position so I have to scroll up or down to get back to where I was, but worse, it often just closes the current screen and brings me in or two tabs back. This happens when you hold/touch the bezel around the screen or the back of the screen and case around the keyboard. Pressing the area next to the touchpad is particularly likely to cancel the current tab, which sometimes takes me back to the home screen. If I hadn't known the tab restore sequence (Ctrl+Shift+T) I would have trashed this thing a few weeks ago. This Acer has become a piece of shit for $400. I LOVE the Chromebook platform and will never go back to Windows, but if that's the only way to get a comfortable and reliable laptop, I might have to forego the touchscreen and shell out $$$ for Apple. Update eight months after purchase: It now randomly freezes when I have too many windows open. Can I close these additional windows using the touchscreen? No I can't If I had a dollar for every shutdown and reboot I would get back more than the dollars I paid for this thing.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Hard to remember, but it was
