Compact, well made and easy to use. This is my first mic that doesn't use battery or phantom power, but an in-camera recording level control eliminates the need for a preamp. Because it's a dynamic mic, it's very good for loud noises like ice skating or the sound hole of a guitar. It's harder to focus on distant things, but it's more of a compromise between a smaller and more controllable design than sound quality. At around 8 feet, the sound quality is a very nice improvement over a DSLR's standard mic and doesn't add much bulk. Comes with everything you need, as long as your camera or phone has a 3.5 jack and does the job well, no worries. Be aware that your dog or cat may mistake a windsock for a toy at first glance =) A big plus for skateboarding is that it doesn't show up in a 16:9 8mm fisheye lens, and in a few Centimeters it produces a crisp pop sound. One note is that it was difficult to fit into the mount, but once installed it's solid. Check out the video accompanying the images here and it's all installed, the instructions are a bit vague.
