Yes, my child can tie shoelaces. but in winter boots that get put on and taken off a lot (like in cold climates) it's a pain. Also, the laces are always untied (although this can be remedied by purchasing other laces). As a solution, I ordered elastic shoelaces without ribbons. But my son has not complained about it. FINAL VERDICT: If your child has wide feet, BUY THESE. You simply won't find a wider winter boot (we tried a wide Kamik and it was a flop). However, if your child has narrow or medium-sized feet, you might want to consider something else (my narrower son loves his Merrells for kids, who also can't tie their shoelaces). shoelaces, we love BOGS).
