Ever since I replaced the hard drive with a WD 4TB hard drive it has been running non-stop - no reboots and I haven't noticed any more choppy video! It's amazing how cool it works 24/7 without a fan! So calm! While on holiday abroad we were able to monitor our property and home from our phone and laptop! We are so glad we chose Reolink and not another brand that we were considering. Your customer support was excellent! UPDATE: 8/8/19: Something in or near my house seems to be causing white pixels on a camera. Nobody can understand it! When I move this camera to another location, it works perfectly. Strange! HOWEVER, a new problem has recently emerged. There were some shots that seemed to be messed up (images were mixed, jumps, etc.). Not sure if the hard drive is failing or unable to do all read/write operations. But I reformatted it and need to keep an eye on it. AND NOW another problem I discovered after running this system for about 10 days. The DVR keeps rebooting! It just restarts at random times, even 4 times an hour at the busiest time of the day! it was restarted, when I was looking at live images or looking at settings. I'm starting to wonder if this NVR can't handle recording from 4 cameras (I've connected 3 of 8MP and 5MP so far). I am contacting Reolink about these issues and I hope they can be resolved as I paid too much for a faulty dash cam. I will post an update and change my star rating according to the result. UPDATE: 05/08/19 Everything is working fine so far, except that one camera has a bunch of white spots (Stuck Pixels) that are noticeable most of the time. at night - very annoying! Also the night vision of this camera looks awful and blurry compared to other cameras. I will definitely have to return this camera. I will keep you informed about the results of working with Reolink and/or other problems that arise. However, the other 3 cameras look great. ORIGINAL REVIEW: 7/26/19 We installed and operated this 2 camera system with ease and it looks very impressive. After a few days, the monitor showed a "No Signal" message and we couldn't see anything except that it was working fine through the mobile app and Windows desktop client software. After trying everything (turning the device off and on a few times, trying a different monitor and even a different cable to no avail!), I assumed the video out wasn't working because neither HDMI nor VGA was working. I then noticed in the desktop client, that the NVR output somehow set the resolution to 4K when we were using an old temporary monitor that doesn't support 4K. This wasn't the original setting I chose and it worked fine before. So I'm not sure how or why the system reverted to 4K. But as soon as I corrected this setting, the video output returned. Hooray! Now I have to cancel the ticket I inserted from Reolink as the problem is solved. But just know that somehow it can happen and how to solve it. I'm so glad I don't have to send it back! The DVR is amazing. Nice compact size, light weight, quiet and although there is no fan it doesn't seem to heat up at all. Motion detection requires a bit of tweaking (you should experiment with your specific situation to see what works best), but once you get it right, it works great. It catches birds, bugs flying at night or heavy rain, but I think it's impossible to avoid. I'd rather let him absorb too much than too little. The night vision is excellent - the best I've seen! Both the mobile app and the desktop client work well, and the mobile app allows me to see the cameras even when I'm not at home. We moved all camera cabling to the basement and the cameras are connected to a Netgear 8-port POE/POE+ switch. The POE switch is then connected to the upstairs NVR via a Cat6 cable (although the POE switch is not directly connected to the network itself to separate the traffic). The DVR sees all the cameras and assigns them their IP addresses (172.xxx.xx.xx) so they are "in their own little world”. This setup works great and there are no lags. We also have a cheap 1080p camera in the house to keep an eye on our pets, which the NVR also sees (ONVIF) and works great (although this camera's features and settings are only accessible via the native camera app (not via the NVR or the Reolink app) and it doesn't seem to be recording video from that camera, but that's not a problem - we only use that camera as a pet view).
