About two months ago I repaired the underground wire that feeds the yard lights. This cable caused problems as I had apparently cut through the insulation while planting bushes. I tried different splicing methods but none of them worked for long. I've actually repaired two cable splices with this product and so far so good. However, I did not bury the cable, but left it open. We've had a series of heavy rains, snowstorms and ice storms over the last two months and it's still working. I'll bury the cable asap and then we'll see how it actually works. Since I was repairing two joints, I had the option of using two methods of heating the joint. I used a heat gun on one connection and a propane torch on the other. Both worked, but I prefer the propane lamp. You have to be careful with both methods as you can apply too much heat and burn the joint. A propane torch concentrates heat better and gets hotter, but you have to be careful.
