Review on Corelle Stoneware Dinnerware Oatmeal Reactive by Sean Young

GOOD TO LOOK, BUT WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF THESE UNDERLOAD, OVERLOADED CUPS?

WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED TO CORELLE QUALITY? stopped recognizing the brand. They have always been famous for being virtually unbreakable, microwavable and heat resistant. I've never had to use the pads to remove a Corelle plate from a microwave - and that includes even the kit I bought cheap at Walmart to use on my vacation trip. Now I feel like I'll get a 2nd degree burn if I touch a Corelle plate in the microwave. They get so hot that they are no longer heat resistant. Most reviews are for pots and pans, but this review focuses on a pair of their handcrafted ON THE GO mugs (no handles) with silicone lids and safety covers for hot drinks. or cold drinks. They look great, thick and heavy, and the sleeves were a huge bonus. How could I know that none of this matters. THE CAPS DO NOT FIT, they have no suction and lift right off the racquet, so what's good about them (silicone or not)? If I'm having a drink on the go, I expect leak protection, which these lids don't provide, so they're COSMETIC ONLY, NOT FUNCTIONAL. Wherever I take this mug, I need to hold it properly so it doesn't spill. What a crappy and uncomfortable travel mug. MUGS HEAVY and not even insulated which is what I expected! They are no different than any ceramic mug from a 99 cent store. A hot drink will make the mug too hot to hold literally, and cold drinks will cause condensation to constantly drip around the mugs and onto the base. A TOTAL FAILURE as a cup for on the go without an absorbent pad. SLEEVES ARE RUBBER, NOT SILICONE. I assumed they were silicone, as were the lids, but I see Corelle didn't specify that and must want us to assume that. Otherwise, what good is a mug of hot liquid with no handle and no guard? The elastic offers ZERO PROTECTION FROM A HOT CUP, and the sleeves are also fully lined to resist dripping condensation from cold drinks. COMPLETE FAILURE. What was Corell thinking? In other words, these are very pretty mugs that are terrible for "on the go" and are either too hot to hold or get wet. I hope my condensation photos are visible because it was difficult on my phone. But believe me, it's a ROLLING WET MASS. WHY DO I NEED THESE CUPS? "On the run"? I do not think so. Just something nice to look at and not use. Growing up, my mom had several Corelle dishes for everyday use. They never broke, were never microwaved, and she never threw them away. NONE OF MY CORELLE DISHES, including these mugs, are like that anymore. I see no point in these circles. I didn't even want to put them on a coaster filled with an ice-cold drink in my house because the dripping condensation made such a mess of the table, and every time I took it, the mug dripped a river of water on me. and furniture.NO THANKS. OVERLOADED. DOES NOT DELIVER. COMPLETE PRICE. Any mug you already have with a handle is better than these mugs and definitely not the best choice for travel. For this we have isolated circles. I only give 2 stars for the looks.

Pros
  • Eat wherever you want with higher rimmed plates and deeper bowls for everyday use or on the go
Cons
  • Big and bulky
