We used LG OEM water filters but decided to try them to save some money. There was an error. We were surprised that the taste of the water actually got WORSE after switching from an LG filter to a PurePlus filter. We immediately switched back to the OEM filter which immediately restored the taste of the water coming out of the dispenser. Then I got curious if there was a difference in the specs advertised by the manufacturer. The two photos show the technical data of the individual products. Both products reduced "chlorine taste and smell". However, you can see that the LG OEM filter reduces many other contaminants and in our experience this difference makes a huge difference in the taste of the water. We'll stick with LG's OEM filters for now.
