I appreciated that my camping lantern arrived fully charged. This allowed me to immediately turn it on and test the variable brightness settings. The variable power button allows for a warm glow on low setting all the way up to an extremely bright white light on its highest setting. At first glance this lantern appears fragile, but the strong ABS shell makes it anything but fragile. It will take bumps or tipping over without damaging the light. Its diminutive size is actually a plus because at only 8 inches tall, it easily fits in a backpack, can be stored under a seat in a vehicle, or kept in a drawer for easy access in case of a power outage or emergency. A weather proof rubber cover over the USB charge port is a nice touch, helping to keep moisture and dirt away. Another nice touch is the small storage area beneath the removable top. A good place for maybe some keys, a tiny screwdriver, or money. I use it to store the USB cable it came with so I won’t lose track of it. As the copy on their site states, this could be useful in a storm, emergency, or as part of a survival kit, as well as outdoor pursuits. For the money, I believe this powerful lantern is well-executed and will be useful for a long time.
