I like the synchronized waist on them because I can let them loose or tighten them when I want definition. There is a small elastic band on the sides near the waist, which keeps them well above the hips even without straps. The straps are also adjustable. But the best thing is that they fit my legs perfectly. I'm short so I have to tuck or hem all my pants but that's only the length that comes down to the ankle. For the record, I'm 5'3" and ordered a size S. The fabric isn't the best ever, but they're so cheap I still think they're a steal! I think I'd live in them , if I could. .
