Decent but not versatile

Pros: 1080P HDMultiple capture modesPhoto or video IP66 ratingStarlight HDR sensor2W LED assist lightAudio recording Cons:No night visionNo WiFiWhat I got in the package:1 x VMORTAL time lapse camera1 x USB cable1 x Mounting plate rod 1 x Rod clamp 1 x Adjustable Strap 3 x Screws 3 x Anchors 1 x Allen Wrench 1 x String 1 x User Manual This VMORTAL time-lapse camera product offers recording intervals from 1 second to 24 hours. It features a 120-degree wide-angle Starlight lens and an HDR sensor. Requires 12 x 1.5V AA batteries to operate. It can hold up to 512GB SD card. In terms of time-lapse options, I wouldn't call this a mid-range camera. This is definitely the higher side of these cameras. What I liked about the camera is that you can use this camera with the default settings with two presses of the same button. Image quality during the day is pretty good, and the ability to take photos or videos is a nice feature. My wife wants me to build her a raised garden and we thought it would be nice to be able to watch the plants grow. During testing, I tried several settings. First standard photo every 5 minutes. I put it on a hummingbird feeder and it works fine. The problem is that not all visits to the feeder are recorded in a 5-minute window. So the second test I did was for the Orbweb Spider on my deck. I just wanted to see what a day in the life of this spider was like. I set the camera to take photos every 2 minutes and also turned on the LED light. I must say that the spider has incredible patience. He hardly moved all night. The picture quality at night is normal. But without light, you can't see anything at night. I'm not sure what the Starlight lens is supposed to do as it's not explained anywhere. But if it is to make night shots better. it doesn't cut it. The manual states that this product requires 12 x 1.5V AA batteries to work. Seems like this is only needed for extended use. I was able to get it to work just fine with just 4 x 1.5V AA batteries. It's a good solution without having to go down the much more expensive time-lapse route, without the huge expense of a DSLR, intervalometer and post-processing software. . The camera does everything in one device. You can also set the date and time. An additional feature offered by this camera that I wasn't aware of is ambient temperature tracking in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. Unfortunately, there are a few features that I either don't need or don't have on the device. I have several security cameras and they offer night vision, motion detection, IR and some even have WiFi options. I think a time-lapse camera doesn't need all these features. However, I could see how useful the IR lights and night vision would be. The menu system is awkward to navigate, but one can get used to it. need to be rough as the display is on the back of the camera. So to set it up you need to open it, set it up and run it. Then close it. This is fairly typical of most cameras of this type. Bought to experiment with time-lapse photography without the huge expense of a DSLR, intervalometer and post-processing software. It creates an AVI file from all the photos taken. The camera is of relatively good quality during the day or when your subject is close enough to be illuminated by the built-in LED light. Also, it doesn't work for night recording of events. Didn't have enough clear skies to see if it would track the stars, but hope to check it out on the next clear night. That would be impressive and I will upload the results of this test as soon as I can complete it. Obviously, with a wide-angle lens, you get a little fisheye view all around the shot. I could not find a guarantee either in the product information or in the item description. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All in all, this is an interesting product. This is a very niche time-lapse need and if it had other advanced features I think it could replace my trail camera as well. But it does nothing but time lapse. The LED light works for large objects, but otherwise shooting at night is useless. It suffers from some of the same functionality issues as many trail cameras. For example, it's impossible to tell exactly where you're pointing a camera that runs on 12 AA batteries. You think internal rechargeable lithium batteries are a must these days. I'm torn as it shoots well during the day but poorly at night unless the subject is close and you're using LED lighting. I would consider IR lighting to be less harmful to wildlife. It is definitely innovative or groundbreaking in terms of functionality and usability. Do your research as there are better options in the same price range. I hope this information was helpful.
