It took me a few tries to get my hand in properly and I buried it a little further than my wrists: I just turned it off until I was comfortable . It seems a bit aggressive at first, but you can turn it down if it hurts. (There's a button at the bottom that does this if the switch isn't low enough on level 1.) I also recommend using heat unless it's stuffy where you are - far from it here. Both my husband and I have sore hands and we both found this helped her. In my case, I found that the effects lasted for over 24 hours before I started noticing pain again. It charges well and easily, and there's an indicator light to show when it's fully charged.
