If you only need to make one cup of coffee at a time, this is a great little device. It's cute and actually looks decorative sitting on the counter. Or it's small enough to fit in most closets if you'd rather not mess things up. I've never seen the appeal of a Keurig machine. They either use pods, which are expensive and wasteful, or a reusable little filter that you refill with your coffee and clean every time (which seems like a hassle and doesn't always work well according to reviews). This pour-over coffee maker is a more economical and environmentally friendly alternative to one-cup brewing. You may need to experiment a little to get the perfect cup of coffee. If you like a strong drink, try a finer grind and remember to pour hot (almost boiling) water into the grind rather slowly. If you like a softer brew, a regular or coarse grind might be better. The entire unit is dishwasher safe, but is also very easy to hand wash. The soil and filter can be composted if you have a garden. This is a great brewing option for those with limited space, students, apartment dwellers, or those who only have an espresso machine and don't need a drip maker.
