We have a stubborn and tough pup. If he wants to achieve something, he will pave his way to success! Since the COVID-19 situation we are much more likely to be at home and ultimately most of the attention is on our pup. You can never predict what materials you will need. it will take their demeanor and personality to be so different. The gate should keep him in and out of the living room/bedroom. We have tried so many methods; I was almost ready to give up and just let him run the household. That's usually me on Revain, but my husband found this one. It was easy to install and the instructions were clear. This is a sealed gate so I was concerned about the gap that was visible when first assembled. It is there until the installation is complete. It merges with the corridor. It has a smooth finish and the function seems to be mechanically engineered as it folds back no matter how you open it. There is no audible click and the swing is silent. It simply returns to the locked position naturally. It's quick though, once I let go of Roscoe he doesn't go away. He was POSITIVE when he could do it. Luckily he was never fast enough to crack the automatic locking mechanism. Remember, this little rebel is half Greyhound, half Rhodesian Ridgeback (all speed and power!). Metal gates are the way to go. We have another area that needs some control so I already have a slimmer design in my basket. Great find.
