Reviews on this were pretty random, but I decided to take a chance anyway. I've been wearing this necklace every day for over a month (I only take it off to shower and sleep) and it's holding up very well. There are no signs of wear, the gilding is in perfect condition. I used to have cheap pendants and the gold wore out after a few wears but like I said I wear it every day. Some reviewers said it was too bright. It's lighter than it looks in the photos - it weighs about ten cents. After all, it's not pure gold. It's really very good for the price.
