I bought this bed because my dog has epilepsy and his bed was getting dirty so I needed something waterproof. This bed just arrived yesterday and I'm already so happy with it. It comes very compressed in the packaging and mine was back to normal in just a few hours. I ordered a medium size and we have a standard medium size box and fit just right. I had to squeeze in the corners a bit but I think the longer my boy is on top of him the more he's going to squeeze a bit. But it offers full edge-to-edge coverage of the entire bottom of the box, meaning my boy is secure and won't get stuck under him in the event of a seizure. The cases are great. It comes with two covers. The first layer is a plastic cover that protects the mattress from moisture. And then you have a soft, comfortable case to cover it with. I like knowing the mattress won't get wet or smelly if my boy has a seizure and gets dirty. And if it comes to #2 in the wash (which it often does) I can just open the outer cover and take it outside to hose it down and then put it in the wash. I can wipe down the waterproof cover and then my boy can keep his bed, maybe with an extra blanket or towel while the cover is washed. I used to have to put his whole bed in the washing machine so he wouldn't do it until it was time to clean up. I love the thickness of this mattress. I can tell that it makes him feel very comfortable and his old knuckles don't touch the ground. He was very excited to lie on it for the first time. It gives me peace of mind that it's comfortable, safe and that when it gets dirty my cleaning will be easier. Thank you!
