They look very small in my cup holders because I measured and then scaled down a bit and probably overdid it. In hindsight, the best way to find the size I need is to find the largest cup that fits my car's mounts and measure the bottom of it. It's ceramic, just what I wanted. Although I screwed up and got the coasters smaller than I needed, they work great - they're beautiful and keep my coffee mug from rising without spilling. BTW, although I wanted ceramic coatings, I now have doubts about that choice because I use a ceramic travel mug. It seems like a styrofoam stand would have been a more sensible choice in this case. They're fine, though, and those who use traditional stainless steel, plastic, or disposable cups won't have a problem with them. These ceramic coasters will cool and chill hot drinks! I still love them - I might just need to grab them from the bottom of my cup holder when I'm drinking coffee.
