Bought this for my wife to take on vacation as she has a good Canon DSLR and some lenses. She looked around and decided it was exactly the item she needed and when it arrived she said it was a little larger than it looked online but she was excited to have it measured and it was only the maximum size for a "personal item” for us flight (ie carry on board free of charge). We also bought a travel tripod but had to put it in our checked bag as it was wider outside the bag than the size of the airline personal item. - But no big deal. We didn't plan on using a tripod until we got to our destination. The inside dimensions of the bottom of the bag were perfect for her camera with lens attached and two additional lenses. All compartments are well stocked and the extra space didn't hurt either. The drawstring top is about the same size as her purse, so she put her purse in this compartment for the duration of the flight so all her belongings were in one place. The only thing this could have done would have been to secure the valve with one clip instead of two for a little easier access to the top. We really like that all camera elements can be loaded from the large bottom zipped area, but you can access the camera via the side zipped area.
