I have worked in many places in Alaska with varying icing conditions. The worst was a light layer of snow on the ice. This condition reduces the effectiveness of any brand of traction lug. Other than that, the best spikes I've ever used are like WAYPOR ice grips. I've been using them since I bought them to walk my dogs on fairly snowy and icy roads. You can be sure that they are hard wearing, will match your boots or shoes and will last. I was glad extra spikes were sent with the order as I had lost one while chopping wood in gravel conditions and one of them was gouged. It was easy to replace the spike and the seller is aware that you will lose it from time to time.
