Review on Sauder Beginnings 3-Shelf Bookcase: Highland Oak Finish - Organize your Space with Style by Kiesha Butler

Don't buy this! on Home Office Furniture

Other reviewers say it's easy to put together. But that's not the case. Unfortunately it took me 7 months to try it, so I can't return it. At 31 pounds, it's tremendously heavy. Also difficult to assemble. It takes 24 nails to attach the back brace! TWENTY-FOUR nails! Made from chipboard (compressed sawdust). One hit with a screwdriver or hammer and this thing EXPLODES before you even put it together! And it does NOT come with its own tools! You will need a screwdriver, a hammer and a tape measure (to space the nails to the correct width). I'm not a carpenter! I had to prop it up on my bedside table to make progress, rotate it in different directions, and finally rotate it vertically to finish the frame. I saw the warning (DO NOT stand tall without your back buttoned!) until I did this. Once assembled it is VERY difficult to move (manual says a friend can help you). It doesn't fit many books. But it is WAY bigger than my return window and I had to DESTROY the box it came in just to get it. So I throw away this monstrous, ugly, impossible thing and order a METAL bookshelf that is three times lighter.
