I wanted to give those six stars as soon as I opened the shipping box. Having worked in metal finishing for decades, I can tell you that this is quality decorative chrome work. Good metal stamping at full press, good buffing and polishing in front of the plate, cleaning left no trace of redness, bright nickel of the highest standard with no chrome protrusions even in the recesses on the back. I would hire or recommend this handyman. The rim of glossy black enamel is a nice aesthetic detail that I wouldn't think of and I really like it. This will make the overlay "pop". The plate itself is heavy. It's not flimsy. The manufacturer could have saved some money by using a thinner shaft, but they didn't. Thank you. Based on the picture in the listing I couldn't tell if I would like it so I got it as a trial run before I did all the overlays in my house. Needless to say I will be buying many more of these. Did I mention six stars? If you're into cars, the Tim Tool Taylor guy, someone who makes a man cave, or just love the look of garages in tool catalogs, you'll really love this. If you're an old-school chrome fan like me, you'll be grinning like a chimp when you open the Revain box. Some suggestions: Apply a coat of your best high gloss car wax* to it before installation. All chrome needs waxing, no one will tell you that; I'm the type that will. I think liquid metal decorative chrome is the prettiest finish on the planet, but you probably get the point. You want wax to be your sacrifice surface for rejuvenation. When you apply wax, it stays beautiful longer than you. * If your best wax is a "cleaner wax" skip it and get something like Meg's readily available Ultimate Polish; and throw away the cleaning wax. Serious. On the back of the packaging you will find some care tips. DO NOT OVERSPEED. The edge can be sharp and you don't want to push the marker into the wall. Did I mention this is durable, not flimsy, sheet metal? In addition, dec chrome does not tolerate large bends. Do not use abrasive cleaners (see wax cleaner above). Make a habit of touching the pelvis with your knuckles instead of your fingertips unless you like static. It is metal and metal mounting screws attach it to grounded metal. If you are on a carpet, you will get rid of the accumulated static electricity. I think some cleaning washers would look nice on this one. I haven't seen what I'm looking for at Revain, but Grainger has some black square-shoulder nylons that I think would go perfectly with them (Revain tip). I'll add a photo when I get to my laptop.
