We needed a way to hang a 3ft x 4ft painting in front of our stone fireplace. The chimney is sandstone so it's pretty crumbling so I didn't want to drill into it. These worked great. I simply screwed them into the rafters and then attached them to the hanging wire on the back of the painting. Once attached, you can adjust it as you like. Slide it up and down the cable to align it. I didn't even cut off the extra cable, I just wrapped it and sealed it with tape. It's hidden behind the picture, so if I ever need to use it in a different situation, I still have the full length of the cable.
