Review on Sanyo SEC TDR02N Eneloop Travel Charger by Danny Trapanese

Works for my purposes but only charges AA Ni-MH batteries

I have a digital camera that uses 2 AA batteries. I hate how quickly my camera batteries die, so I wanted rechargeable batteries and I've heard good things about Sanyo. Since batteries are used in pairs, I figured a charger that charges in pairs would work well. The charger only charges AA NiMH batteries. The two batteries supplied are of the second generation type. I was surprised that there are actually two batteries sitting in the charger and making contact with the metal terminals. The batteries were so empty - which even the instructions do not prescribe! - that they no longer had enough strength to fire more than one shot. I charged the batteries for about 4 hours and now they work great with my camera. The instructions state that the charger takes 4 hours and 50 minutes to charge a fully discharged battery. You must keep an eye on the indicator on the charger as the instructions and indicators do not mention whether the charger has an overcharge prevention mechanism. . I'm assuming it isn't. Also make sure that children do not put batteries in the charger the wrong way round, as there is no safety mechanism for this. The charger is small and easy to take with you when you travel. It plugs directly into an outlet. This works great for my situation.
