It works well until a serious design flaw is discovered.

Obviously a cheap lightweight LED spotlight but it works well. The threaded mount is marginal but works. The plastic lock nut nearly broke the first time I used it to screw the flow to the bracket. Anything larger than the included low-capacity NP-F550 battery can easily fall out of the mount. The workaround was to push a folded piece of paper behind the battery to clamp it in place. There is no cold shoe latch, allowing the entire floodlight assembly to slip and fall off the flash grip it is mounted to. This was fixed with a nylon strap. In other words, there are issues that need to be addressed, but considering the price I'm not disappointed. HOWEVER, there is a serious design problem. After installing and removing from the screw mount for several uses, the flow began to appear erratic. It falls from light to dark or stops working altogether. I've noticed that if I turn it a little on the screw mount, it then either dims or corrects. After disassembly I saw the problem. The photos show that when the 1/4" screw mount is installed, its threads abut a spool on the circuit board. After removing the circuit board I saw that the screw thread cut through the insulation and completed the circuit. Kitchen sink. I fixed it by wrapping electrical tape around the coil. This is only a temporary fix as the tape will also wear out or be pushed off the spool. Eventually, the mounting pressure on the coil will cause the coil leads to stick. It breaks on the board or the coil itself fails completely.
