Works well on antique book bindings.
I used this to reinforce the inner loop of a 300 year old book. Worked well and wasn't intrusive. I'm not sure what a professional book repairman would use, but I've seen some pretty bad attempts at using tape and other unsuitable materials for old books. The tape separated easily from the substrate on this hinged tape.
