These patches improve adhesion but are not waterproof. The hole in them, made on the capsule, allows water to seep under it, which means it has to be removed. If water remains under the patch between the patch and the skin, bacteria can build up. I will use a pod for extra stability to keep it attached but I will replace the patch after any water activity or excessive sweating. Seems to hold up well with a little sweating.
