Review on πŸ“» Bulipu SI4732 All Band Full Frequency Radio Receiver - FM AM (MW and SW), SSB (LSB and USB) with Speaker, Antenna, Battery - Black by John Bailey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This little radio works pretty well but needs instructions.

Because of the bad weather on the news I decided to buy an all band radio as well, the price was right. So I order one and about a week later I received the package. Inside the box I found a radio and a telescopic antenna with no packaging material. The radio is tiny - 1.75 inches high, 3.5 inches wide and about 4 inches deep. On the front there is a 0.75 x 1 inch OLED display, the buttons are labeled Band+, Band-, Vol+, Volume, Step, BW, AGC and Mode. The final control is the digital encoder knob/button. The rear panel features a USB mini-B connector for battery charging, a power button, a red/blue charge indicator, a headphone jack, a BNC antenna connector, and a switch labeled "FM/AM(SSB)". After connecting the antenna and turning on the radio, the internal Arduino board booted up and displayed "SI473X Library for Arduino". After searching the internet for this phrase for an hour, I found the open source software GitHub repository. the options for several similar radios, including this one, and some basic instructions. On the back, the mini USB-B port can be used for charging and software updates. The power button turns the radio on or off, and the charging indicator lights up when the radio is connected to USB power - red for charred and blue for fully charged. The headphone jack also functions as an external FM antenna. An external antenna or telescopic antenna is required for AM and shortwave reception, and the FM/AM (SSB) switch allows you to choose between the BNC socket A = for antenna and the internal FM antenna. There is an OLED screen on the front. The screen shows the normal setting data. The FM broadcast will also display RDS data if available. The controller is mainly used to adjust the signal. In FM and AM mode, pressing the button causes the radio to search for a radio signal. In USB and LSB mode, pressing the knob toggles the BFO setting.
