This is my first flashlight and it's a game changer! In the month or so that I had, I achieved results that were previously unattainable for me. (See sample images). It's light (plastic) but doesn't look "cheap" - the plastic is strong and of good quality. It comes with a cord so I can plug it into the mains. It comes with a zippered nylon case with a foam cutout so I can safely carry the flashlight around. The diffuser works well and gives me a nice soft light. It has a U mount with a locking knob so I can lock it in place once I have the light where I want it. The lantern itself isn't too big either, so don't bother. On the back of the flashlight is a small backlit control panel with multiple up/down arrows on a small touchscreen. A set of up/down arrows is for the brightness of the light. The other set is for light temperature. It goes from warm yellow light to cool bluish light. The light intensity ranges from relatively dim to scorching bright. (Remember this is my first light so I have nothing to compare it to but when I first lit it my family yelled at me to lower the brightness decrease as it hurt my eyes.) The screen displays "Temperature" numbers in Kelvin as well as brightness numbers. So if you know the brightness and temperature you need for a specific shot, you can input them. The light itself consists of many small LEDs - so it never gets too hot. In my opinion this is a bonus. That's all that is included in the kit. Now - I'll tell you what's not included in the kit. There is no stand included. Instead of buying a Falcon Eyes light stand, I saved a few bucks and bought "Neewer 75" / 6ft / 190cm photo stands for reflectors, softboxes, lights, umbrellas, backdrops. that's what it was made for. Batteries are not included. And in my opinion it is a "MANDATORY". So I bought NP-F550 RAVPower charger for Sony NP F970, F750, F770, F960, F550, F530, F330, F570, CCD-SC55, TR516, TR716, TR818, TR910, TR917 and others (pack of 2 batteries, charger with two slots). That's a lot of words, but basically it's a set of two batteries, comes with a charger for two batteries. And if I ever buy a Sony camera, I'll have spare batteries! In fact, I've never used the power adapter that came with the flashlight, I've only ever used it with my batteries. I like being wireless. There are no gels or barn doors. So since this is my first lamp and I'm not a 'professional' photographer or anything, I figured the lack of gels or barn doors wouldn't be a showstopper. Also, it's not the kind of light you would use as a spotlight - it has a built in diffuser so I'm not sure what barn door use is. I think I could stick gels on it if I really wanted to, or improvise old cardboard as barn doors if I really wanted to. Snap a photo of my son at dusk at a local park. Shot sample #2. Shot of my son at dusk in a local park. Example shot #3: A couple of friends are standing outside under a tree on a dark, overcast, rainy day. . (My daughter was my "lighter" again, as she was on previous shoots.) Overall, I'm very happy with this light and highly recommend it. It's lightweight and has features typically found in more expensive flashlights.
