When washing, the soap gets between the mug and the insulating part, so the soap bubbles come out when you pour hot coffee in (but don't worry about when you go under). outside the cup, not in the cup). Although the coffee smells absolutely disgusting, the mug doesn't retain the smell (thank goodness!). So if they could make a mug where the seams are molded together and nothing could get between the cracks, that would be the perfect mug. Oh, and add some to include the coffee. It has an open drinking hole so be careful not to spill it. But it's a good cup.
