Review on Semogue Excelsior 830 Shaving Brush by Brandi Walker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is exactly the brush you are looking for

Have been using Semogue 1305 for about 10 years now, the paint is peeling, the child has been playing with it in the bath etc. It's time for a new one boar brush. If you use soap I honestly can't think of a better brush than Semogue. But they have so many quality control issues with their pens it's unbelievable. I looked at another pen that was varnished, 2 in a row already had cracks in their paint. I wanted a knot, not a handle. So I started dabbling with acrylic pencils so I wouldn't have to deal with cracks anymore. I ended up on the 830, honestly it didn't look good in the photos. In this line of brushes, the 830 has the best knot. Holding the brush in your hand really makes you feel like a premium brush. It smelled faintly of badger, I lathered it up with shaving soap and left it on the counter for a couple of hours. The smell is gone. The boar takes a few months to fully break in, but it's worth it. We look forward to another 10 years with semogue.
