I just parked this radio on my kitchen windowsill to let the solar panel charge the battery and was amazed at how long the radio would play (a couple of hours?) with it the energy stored in the tiny battery pack that comes with the radio, which is charged by a tiny solar panel. It'll be a cheap thing to have handy, but don't count on 6 hours of daylight, fully charged phone and listening to the radio - **** so you'd better stock up on plenty of batteries for real work. Emergency***. You can get a radio for a few hours OR a light for a few hours OR a phone charge from each charge day if you have bright sunshine that day. The hand crank isn't very strong - you have to crank it for a long time to get a lot of radio playing time. This radio never left my house so I can't comment on its longevity, but the radio's switch knob fell off after some indoor use. Still not bad for a cheap product.
