Apparently I didn't read what others wrote about them being cheap and very difficult to open but now I know! As others have said, a good banana clip should have a strong hinge on one end and a good, easy-to-clip latch on the other. They are almost impossible to open. One broke when I tried. And although it basically LOOKS like the banana clips I remember from over 20 years ago, they don't work the same way. I have thick hair that a hair clip should fill out and hold in place, but it doesn't. In just a few minutes, the clip slipped off my head. It's also too long, and even when it was in place, it didn't look right. waste of money.
